She's involved in various causes for animal welfare and often speaks up about animal abuse on her social media accounts.

One of the movements Carla definitely supports is the "Adopt, Don't Shop" campaign.

In an exclusive interview with the actress, Carla explained why we should adopt more animals.

"Aminin naman natin, most people would rather shop. Naghahanap sila ng specific na breed ng aso so dumi-diretso sila sa pet shop or sa breeder mismo.

"Wala namang problema, okay lang, siyempre preference mo 'yan, it's up to you. Pero it would be better sana if you consider adopting also.

Most pets up for adoption were once stray animals.

Posted @withrepost • @pawssionproject We need your help ❗️ We currently have around 300 rescues for both Bacolod and Bulacan shelters and we badly need your help. Since we started back in October, we have rescued around 500 dogs already and while others did not make it due to illnesses, we have successfully rehomed a number of rescues. Most Rescues are rehomed sterilized, vaccinated and rehabilitated already, for free. While we do not get any government or corporate funding, we have continuously strived to work for the needs of our rescues and we have settled almost 500k pending bills by God's grace. While we still have around 120k pending bills in distemper clinic, Animal House, Mt. Sinai here in Manila and MVP in Bacolod, we raise our flag for help for the rehabilitation of the newly rescued dogs from Parañaque and Cavite shelters. ▪️We need to pay 30k for Bulacan rent for 3 months within the week. ▪️The caretakers salaries monthly is 32k for both Bacolod & Bulacan including a shelter manager ▪️We also have a coordinator and rescuer that we pay from our own pockets ▪️40k weekly for food of all 300 rescues ▪️Utilities and Cleaning supplies These are some of the constant expenses that we need help on. Tomorrow, we will start the rehabilitation of the dogs and we will need doxycycline, ticks and mange meds, immune boosters, iron supplements, vitamins and we are currently looking for a supplier who can supply the medicines on credit so we'll still have time to raise funds but that we can already start rehabilitation. Volunteers are also more than welcome tomorrow in Bulacan. Message us if you can come. Carla also has experience fostering Aspins or Puspins that need immediate medical care.

"I try fostering, bringing them back to good health then finding them a new home."

This 2020, Carla is set to star in the upcoming Kapuso drama titled Love Of My Life alongside Mikael Daez, Rhian Ramos, Coney Reyes, and with special participation from Tom Rodriguez.
