Make your own Gingerbread Cookies this Noche Buena. Learn how from 'Mars Pa More' host Iya Villania.

Want Gingerbread Cookies for Noche Buena? Why not try to make your own for a change? Not only will you have Instagram-worthy dessert to enjoy after Noche Buena, but you'll also have something fun to do with your kids.

Christmas this year may be different from the ones before it, but that doesn't mean it has to be sad. Kids and adults can still make it fun and memorable by thinking of new or creative ways to celebrate Christmas.

One way of injecting a bit of fun to the “chore” of preparing your Noche Buena is tagging along with your kids and letting them bake some Christmas dessert with you like the Gingerbread Cookies.

In a recent 'Mars Pa More' episode, host Iya Villania, with the help of her firstborn Primo Arellano, showed how to bake DIY Gingerbread Cookies.

If you want to try this as a bong activity with your kids for Noche Buena, below are the ingredients and procedure.

Ingredients:

Procedure:

1. Mix together all the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl: flour, baking soda, salt, ground ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and allspice powder.

2. Next, combine the egg with the vanilla essence.

3. Whisk the butter or put it in a mixer.

4. Add brown sugar and molasses.

5. Add the egg and vanilla essence mixture.

6. Slowly add the dry ingredients.

7. When the batter becomes sticky, cut it in half and wrap them with cling wrap.

8. Leave it in the fridge overnight.

9. The next day, flatten the dough.

10. Cut the dough using a cookie cutter.

11. Bake in the oven.

12. Decorate the cookies with frosting or icing using piping bags.

13. To make the icing/frosting, use powdered sugar, butter, vanilla essence, and a pinch of salt.

Take note that you should prepare the cookie dough a day before Noche Buena or on December 23, as you need to chill the dough in the fridge overnight.
