Morcon is one of the traditional Filipino foods served during Christmas. And Unang Hirit's cutie chef Jose Sarasola added a cute twist to this dish by doing a bite size version of it that he calls morconito.
Here are the ingredients you'll need to make morconito:
beef strips or sirloin strips
chorizo de bilbao
pickles
bell pepper
carrots
egg
soy sauce
garlic
onion
tomatoes
tomato sauce
calamansi juice
pepper
parsley
Now that you got the list of ingredients, here are the 12 steps to cooking Chef Jose Sarasola's morconito:
1. Marinate the beef in soy sauce, garlic, calamansi juice, and pepper.
2. Put chorizo, pickles, bell pepper, carrots, and hard-boiled egg into the beef strips. Roll the stuffed beef strips and pierce with three toothpicks to keep it intact.
3. Fry the morconito until golden brown.
4. Add the marinade and beef stock.
5. Cover the pan and let it cook for one hour.
6. Once the beef has softened, remove them from the pan and set aside for ten minutes.
7. Set aside also the sauce (marinade and beef stock) for later.
8. For the morconito's sauce, saute the garlic, onion, and tomatoes.
9. Then add the sauce (marinade and beef stock) you used to cook the morconito earlier.
10. Add tomato sauce and laurel leaves and let it boil.
11. Slice the cooked morconito and pour sauce on top of them.
12. Sprinkle parsley and serve.
Chef Jose recommends that you marinate the beef strips overnight. But, if you're pressed for time, you can do so for at least an hour or two.
