Marilou Diaz-Abaya's Jose Rizal will be screened at LOOK Cinemas in New York on August 13 (US Time) as part of 'Fiesta in America'.
After having its gala premiere at the historic Manila Metropolitan Theatre, the digitally restored and remastered Jose Rizal marked its US premiere as part of Fiesta in America, the longest-running Filipino cultural and trade show in New York-New Jersey area.
Directed by Marilou-Diaz Abaya and produced by GMA Picutres, Jose Rizal will be screened on August 13 (US Time) at LOOK Cinemas in New York.
Cesar Montano portrayed the titular hero with Chin-Chin Gutierrez as Josephine Bracken and Mickey Ferriols as Leonor Rivera. Also part of the cast are Ronnie Lazaro as Francisco Mercado, Gloria Diaz as Teodora Alonso, Pen Medina as Paciano Mercado, and Gina Alajar as Saturnina Rizal.
After the gala screening of Jose Rizal in Manila on August 7, Cesar Montano became emotional after watching the movie he did more than two decades ago.
"Ako, natutuwa ako because of this newly-restored movie na Jose Rizal. Nalulungkot din ako dahil sana nandito si Direk Marilou na na-witness niya 'tong restoration na 'to. It's really a great honor to be part of this movie," he said.
