Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

The main trio of the 'Harry Potter' film franchise (Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson) reunites to celebrate the first film's 20th anniversary.

Back in 2001, fans who had only been reading about the adventures of the boy wizard Harry Potter were finally able to see his adventures on the big screen as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone debuted in cinemas around the world. Twenty years later, the film's main cast is reuniting to celebrate the milestone.

HBO Max will be airing Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts on New Year's Day, January 1, 2022. The reunion will be reuniting the film's main trio (Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson), as well as film director Christopher Columbus and cast members from all eight films in the franchise.

Some of the other stars that will also be in the reunion are Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, Tom Felton, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Matthew Lewis, Evanna Lynch, and Ian Hart.

According to HBO Max, the reunion will tell “an enchanting making-of story through all-new, in-depth interviews and cast conversations.”

In a statement, the president of Warner Bros. Global Kids, Young Adults and Classics Tom Ascheim said that it was an “incredible journey” to watch Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone blossom and turn into an interconnected universe that now has 10 films in it, with the latest film, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, coming in 2022.

The Harry Potter film franchise has been good to a lot of its cast, with Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson having thriving careers in film and television. Even those who have decided to pursue other careers have thrived. For instance, Hugh Mitchell, who played Colin Creevey in the second film, is now a real-life photographer.
