If the reviews are anything to go by, English actor Daniel Craig is ending his tenure as James Bond on a high note.

Since premiering in London, No Time to Die has received nothing but love, with reviewers calling the film “audacious,” “self-aware,” and a “cultural and economic event.”

In a five-star review for the BBC, Nicholas Barber brought up the enormous pressure the film faced before its release. Because of theater closures and film release delays brought about by the global coronavirus pandemic, British cinemas had pinned their hopes of recovery on the Bond film. Its status as Craig's final Bond film also had audiences expecting more.

Thankfully, Barber says the film delivers, covering a range and scope not done by previous Bond films and ending Craig's tenure with "tremendous ambition and aplomb.”

The Guardian's Peter Bradshaw also gave the film five stars calling it "very enjoyable and gleefully spectacular" and commended it for still being “capable of springing a surprise on the fanbase.” He also mentioned that even with its outlandish situations, "No Time to Die" still feels like it takes place in the real world.

All the praise must be a relief for Craig, who had initially resisted taking on the iconic role of Bond. He was afraid of the pressure the role would exert on his personal life.

Away from the camera, Craig is a husband to Academy Award-winning actress Rachel Weisz, with whom he has a daughter. He was even photographed carrying around his daughter in a sling.
