Kapuso actress Rhian Ramos took to Instagram to voice her support for small businesses that may have been affected by the lockdown brought about by COVID-19.
In a short video, she encouraged her followers to support small, local businesses when buying goods.
Rhian recognized that the pandemic not only affected our health but also our economy.
"This pandemic is not just a threat to our health but it's also threatening our economy and our finances.
"Sadly, now is a time that businesses are closing down, some people are losing their jobs and some who have kept their jobs are working with smaller salaries than what they're used to," she says in the video.
Still, she lauded how people remained resilient during this time.
"But Filipinos persevere and many business owners are working hard to keep their business afloat. There are many new businesses popping up as well because people are trying to find new ways to support their families," she says.
Because of this, she encouraged her followers to use social media and look for nearby shops which can cater to basic goods and needs.
"I'm not telling you to spend more especially at a time like this. I'm just saying it really makes a difference where we spend our money," she shares.
"When you support a small business, you're not just helping the business owner but you're helping their families, their employees and you're providing commerce to their suppliers and the people that make their deliveries," she adds.
Rhian also suggested making online posts and leaving reviews about them to make these businesses more visible and accessible online.
"Order their products and post about them in your stories and leave positive reviews on their pages to encourage them and keep them visible. You as a customer can make a difference," she ends.
