In a lengthy Instagram post last April 25, Rica stated some of the benefits of having a midwife.
Rica gave birth to her second son with Joseph Bonifacio at home in June 2019.
"Not pregnant!!! This photo was taken seven years ago. Back then I was only dreaming of an all natural birth and ended up being sliced open.
"My desire was only realised last June [2019] when I gave birth with my midwife.
"I believe I still would have given birth with no medical intervention with the right OB, but part of me also wanted to experience being cared for by a midwife because I feel like it's such a beautiful practice in the birthing scene which is already lost on us who grew up with the medical institution as our first choice."
The former T.G.I.S star added that with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, giving birth in a lying-in clinics or birthing centers will lessen the chances of your exposure to the coronavirus disease.
"With the right midwife, one can have a birthing experience so gentle, so respectful, so loving.
"Also!!! If you choose to give birth with them in their lying in clinics or birthing centers, a big side benefit is avoiding the viruses and bacterias you will find in hospitals.
"Might actually be a good option for you now, in case you have to give birth anytime soon and covid 19 is still so strong in our environments."
Rica and her husband are currently stranded in America because of global travel restrictions due to COVID-19.
According to her recent Instagram Story, their US trip were supposed to be over last April 4.
