Rita Avila marks the 18th birthday of her late son, Elia Jesu.
Rita Avila remembers her late son named Elia Jesu on what could have been his 18th birthday on November 10, 2024.
On Instagram, Rita marked the occasion as she shared a photo of Elia Jesu. He died after heart surgery, less than a month after being born.
"Today marks the 18th birthday on earth of my angel son, Elia Jesu. Nung itinabi ang urn ng mom ko sa urn niya sa crypt, napaka-CUTE pala sa liit ng urn!" she wrote in the caption.
"Marahil ay lutang ako nung inilibing noon si Jesu kaya hindi ko maalala. Ngayon, lutang na ako sa saya dahil pribilehiyo ang magka-anak ng tunay na anghel sa langit."
Rita also recalled what the priest told them during her son's funeral mass.
"Sa misa nung libing ng anak ko, ang sabi ng pari ay: We don't pray FOR Jesu; we pray TO Jesu for he is with God already. He can help us with our prayers," she wrote in the comment section.
According to an article of PEP.ph in 2006, Rita considered Elia Jesu as a "miracle baby." He was named after American filmmaker Elia Kazan, the favorite director of Rita's husband director FM Reyes, and Jesus, which is Jesu in Latin.
Rita currently portrays Lorena De Leon in GMA Afternoon Prime series Lilet Matias, Attorney-At-Law, airing Mondays to Saturdays, 2:30 p.m.
