The beloved Iron Man and Hollywood actor Robert Downey Jr. (RDJ) surprised his fans with his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for two new Avenger movies.
During the recently concluded San Diego Comic-Con, Robert was announced to play the supervillain Doctor Doom for Avengers: Doomsday, set to be released in May 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars, due in May 2027.
Following this announcement, Robert posted a new photo on Instagram showing him holding Doctor Doom's mask.
“New mask, same task,” RDJ captioned his post.
RDJ became one of the biggest movie stars in the world with his role as Iron Man.
In the 2019 film Avengers: Endgame, RDJ retired from the role of Tony Stark/Iron Man. His character met a heroic end, sacrificing himself to save the universe.
In March 2024, RDJ won his first Oscar award as Best Supporting Actor for the movie Oppenheimer.
