Find out how Rochelle Pangilinan's background in dancing helped her in acting.
Rochelle Pangilinan may have started as a dancer, but she later on showed her acting potential in the defunct afternoon teledrama titled Daisy Siete, with her fellow SexBomb Girls.
Now that she's part of the GMA Telebabad fantasy series Mga Lihim ni Urduja, Rochelle admitted in her interview on the Updated with Nelson Canlas podcast that her dance skills were a great help to further develop her acting.
She said, “Nakatulong siya, yung pagsasayaw, kasi yung timing, lahat--same as same din siya ng pag-arte, e. Sa pag-arte, may role kang kailangan gampanan, ganun din naman sa pagsasayaw."
She also noted, “Kung sad ang gusto mo, puwede kang sumayaw ng contemporary. Kung masaya ka naman, sa masiyahin ka naman sa role mo, sa puwede ka naman mag-hip-hop.”
The dancer-turned-actress also said that it was easy for her to transition from a dancer into an actor in terms of timing and how she delivers her lines.
Rochelle plays the role of Dayang Salaknib, the right-hand woman of Urduja, played by Sanya Lopez in the series. Both of their performances, including the action scenes in the pilot episode, were praised by viewers.
She then expressed her thanks for all the praise they received.
“Pinaghandaan naman talaga namin yon ni Sanya. Talagang ano kami nun... Kasi first taping day, so siyempre, sila nakaka-taping, kami maghahabol ni Sanya, intense talaga lahat,” she said.
Rochelle said that it might be because there was a collaboration between the actors and the team behind the series, which provided great inputs to the great scene they were able to do.
Aside from her background in dancing, the former SexBomb dancer said that her experience playing the roles of Agane in Encantadia requel and Bai Marikit in Amaya also helped her in doing fight scenes and delivering the “matalinghagang” lines in Mga Lihim ni Urduja.
“Nakatulong din yon, oo nakatulong sa akin ang Encantadia na ginawa ko, na may mga fight scenes, ganun din ang Amaya para sa mga pagandahan ng linya,” she said.
