After becoming a 2nd lieutenant in the Philippine Army, singer Ronnie Liang set his sights on another goal, and he has achieved the feat in less than a year!
On Instagram, the singer said he has passed with flying colors his Civil Military Operations Officer Correspondence course under the Philippine Army.
“I am grateful or thankful to my Philippine Army Family for the opportunity,” he said while posting a photo of his certificate dated September 21, 2020.
“This is truly an honor and an exemplary privilege! #army #reservist.”
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ronnie served as a frontline military worker, often serving his fellow Filipinos by distributing goods throughout Metro Manila.
Apart from his relief efforts, he was also tapped by the Philippine Army to sing his version of “Awit Kawal” as a tribute song to the fallen soldiers who lost their lives in the Jolo bombing last August.
In an interview for Unang Hirit, Ronnie said it was a great privilege to sing the song to boost his fellow soldiers' morale, especially to those in the province of Sulu.
“It was a great privilege na napagkatiwalaan akong mag-record at gumawa ng bagong version ng 'Awit Kawal' para sa mga kababayan natin,” he said.
“[I want] to boost ng morale ng ating kasundaluhan, lalo na sa mga fallen soldiers ng Sulu, sa mga nabombahan doon, mga nasabugan, at mga namatay doon.
“So, noong nabalitaan ko 'yun, I had the initiative to produce the record and release it right away.”
Aside from being a reservist, Ronnie is also a pilot.
