Sparkle GMA Artist Center recently shared that Kapuso Primetime Action Hero Ruru Madrid is returning to the big screen as part of the cast of the historical film Los Salvajes Bravos.
On Unang Hirit, it was reported that Ruru is set to fly to Spain along with his fellow cast members to begin production for the project.
Directed by Paolo Dy and produced by JesCom Films, the movie centers on the tragic 1887 expedition of Igorot savages to Madrid.
The film follows their harrowing experiences as colonial subjects being exhibited to the public, led by the character Ismael Alzate, a loyalist ex-soldier portrayed by Romnick Sarmenta.
Ruru Madrid joins a formidable ensemble of the country's most respected actors, including Michael De Mesa, Christian Vasquez, Arnold Reyes, Paolo O'Hara, and Michael Roy Jornales.
Together, they will bring to life a poignant story that highlights a dark and significant chapter in Philippine-Spanish history.
This project follows Ruru's successful stint at the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival, where he earned the Best Supporting Actor award for his performance in the GMA Pictures hit Green Bones alongside Dennis Trillo.
Known for headlining action-packed dramas like Lolong and Black Rider, as well as his iconic role as Ybrahim in the 2016 Encantadia, Ruru continues to sharpen his skills for future roles.
He is currently undergoing intensive training in Laraw Kali Pamuok with his partner, Bianca Umali. Reflecting their dedication to the craft, the couple was recently appointed as official ambassadors of Filipino Martial Arts (FMA) for film and television.
