Ruru Madrid

Ruru Madrid is set to headline a new historical film, marking his highly anticipated return to the big screen!

In a social media post from Sparkle GMA Artist Center, they announced the big-screen return of Kapuso Primetime Action Hero Ruru Madrid as part of the cast for the historical film, Los Salvajes Bravos.

JesCom Films serves as the producer for this project, with Paolo Dy as the director.

“Prepare to see a different side of Ruru in this cinematic exploration of Philippine history," Sparkle wrote in the caption of their post.

The said film centers on the tragic 1887 expedition of Igorots to Madrid, led by loyalist ex-soldier Ismael Alzate, highlighting their experiences as colonial subjects on display.

Joining Ruru in this film are some of the country's most respected and veteran actors, including Michael De Mesa, Romnick Sarmenta, Christian Vasquez, Arnold Reyes, Paolo O'Hara, and Michael Roy Jornales.

This latest project follows Ruru's successful run at the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival, where he bagged the “Best Supporting Actor” award for his role in the GMA Pictures hit Green Bones alongside Dennis Trillo.

The actor is currently gearing up for upcoming roles through intensive training in Filipino Martial Arts, specifically Laraw Kali Pamuok, with his partner Bianca Umali.

Notably, the couple was recently appointed as official ambassadors of Filipino Martial Arts for film and television.

Ruru headlined the Kapuso action-packed dramas Lolong and Black Rider. He is also fondly remembered for his role as Ybrahim in the 2016 version of GMA's superserye, Encantadia.
