Saab Magalona shared the heartfelt reason why her husband, Jim Bacarro, started running and decided to run a marathon.
In a detailed Instagram post, Saab shared the story of Jim's decision. She explained that Jim initially sought an escape and a way to clear his mind. Over time, his focus shifted to becoming a strong father to their children, Pancho and Vito, and a devoted husband to Saab.
"Jim has been very open about his anxiety on our podcast. In 2023 after all the traumatic experiences as a family, he just put on his shoes and started running. At first, it was an escape for him. A way to clear his mind when he just felt so lost and scared.
Over the years, running has become so much better than that. Instead of being an escape, he used it as a way to reach a goal. A goal of being a strong father and husband. Instead of mindless running to get away from fear, it's now about being good to his mind and body so that he can be as present as possible to bravely face reality."
Saab also praised Jim for his discipline during training.
"Can we pls acknowledge the discipline of training for a marathon WHILE still showing up for his businesses and his family.. Sheesh. When he updates me on his many projects, I always ask him WHEN DID YOU HAVE TIME TO DO THAT?!? Lol. I can't relate!!! But somehow he ALWAYS gets the job done!!"
According to Saab, Jim is in Sydney for his first full marathon and running for charity.
"So now he's in Sydney about to run his first ever full marathon tomorrow @sydney_marathon. He's running for charity - for premature babies @runningforprems huhu and he sent me this sweater he had made. I wish we could have been there with you, my love!! I included a video of you training our own preemie for his future race. Thank you for running for us!! I'm so proud of you!!! Always and always! @jimbacarro."
In her post, Saab included a beautiful love letter from Jim as he headed to the airport.
He said, "Love Letter for Waaby (Aug 27 2026)
I can't predict whatever's going to happen and I can't control all that will happen outside, but as long as I have you, I am safe. We've made decisions we regret, but I am so blessed that the most important choice of choosing you, to spend my life with you, is the one I got right. So whatever life throws our way, you are the one I get to ride with. My soulmate, my love.
Thank you for letting me do this. You don't know how much this means to me and please know I am doing it for you guys.
I love you and can't wait to kiss and hug you when I get back. Please kiss the babies for me.
Always and Always."
