For the July 7 episode of the variety talk show “Video Star,” Gong Minzy joined Jamie and EXID's Solji to openly speak about malicious comments and their careers as idols.
But one of the highlights of the show would have to be when Minzy spoke about the hardships she faced after leaving the K-pop girl group 2NE1 in 2016 that broke host Sandara Park to tears.
It can be recalled that the two were part of YG Entertainment's 2NE1 with two other members, Bom and CL.
First, Minzy confessed that she's suffered from depression and stress during the group's long hiatuses and breaks in between promotions.
She added, “We actually only had 2 full-length albums and we only made a comeback every 4 years like the Olympics.
“I struggled a lot during the hiatus. I personally suffered from depression and got very stressed during those times.”
By the time she left the group, she couldn't help but receive a lot of negative comments from critics and fake news.
Considering that she was only 22 at the time, it was too much for her to handle.
Despite all these, Minzy said that Sandara became her source of strength and motivation as she transitioned to becoming a solo artist.
She mentioned, “When I see her as a peer, she's very active in a variety of roles, always challenging herself and always improving.
“Watching her was my greatest source of strength while I was on hiatus.
“She was the mom of the group. She always took care of us and was looking out for us.”

Upon hearing this, Sandara couldn't hold back her tears and confessed that she felt a bit of regret that she wasn't able to take care of her younger members well.
Sandara said, “I'm not the type of person who shows affection so it's only lately that I've expressed myself a lot.
“When we were promoting, I feel like I wasn't able to take care of you, our youngest member, a lot.
"I felt very sorry. It must have been so hard for you at such a young age. I regret that.”
On Twitter, Blackjacks (2NE1's fans) couldn't help but feel emotional over the mini-reunion and shared how their longing for a comeback.
Dara's the mother like figure in 2ne1, has always been so supportive & giving inspiration to others. A really humble idol to us all. Thank you for being you. Daralings always love and appreciate you @krungy21 ❤️
