Midnight Girls follows the moving journey of four Filipina entertainers working in a nightclub in Nagoya, Japan. As they navigate the emotional and personal costs of working abroad to provide for their families back home, the four women weave an unbreakable bond of sisterhood.
The movie marks a rare and celebrated collaboration between GMA and ABS-CBN's top talents.
To prepare for their roles, the cast underwent a rigorous three-day immersion with real-world Filipina entertainers, and even learned Japanese and dance routines—including a performance of the iconic SexBomb Girls hit, "Bakit Papa".
A sneak peek into the cast's rigorous preparation was recently shared by director Irene on Instagram, featuring a teaser clip of the four lead actresses rehearsing the SexBomb Girls' smash hit.
Guiding them through the steps was none other than Joy Cancio, the legendary mastermind behind the iconic girl group's choreography.
In the video, Cancio couldn't hide her excitement about working with the stars, calling it a true honor and a blessing.
In the video, Joy expressed how happy she was to be training the four stars for the film.
“It's really my honor to make these ladies. I'm so blessed,” Joy shared.
Jodi Sta. Maria jokingly noted that just when she thought her career had peaked, she suddenly found herself learning a dance routine for a movie.
“Just when I thought na naabot mo na 'yung pinnacle ng iyong career, meron pa pala,” Jodi jokingly said.
Sanya, meanwhile, expressed profound humility, stating it was a massive honor to be coached by an industry legend like Cancio.
“'Yung maturuan tayo ni Ms. Joy, isang karangalan po talaga,” Sanya expressed.
Loisa Andalio admitted that picking up the choreography was a breeze simply because she has always been a massive fan of the iconic girl group.
“Idol ko po talaga ang SexBomb, kaya familiar na rin po talaga ako,” said Loisa.
Jane Oineza couldn't contain her excitement, revealing that performing the legendary track was a literal dream come true.
“Saka marinig ko pa lang na Bakit, Papa, okay, game! It's my dream come true!” Jane shared.
