Filipino American rapper Saweetie is one of the celebrities who walked the red carpet of the highly anticipated Met Gala this 2021.
The theme of the opening gala is “America: A Lexicon of Fashion” and celebrities and designers were challenged to showcase their own take on American Independence and how American fashion has evolved.
The voluptuous rapper walked the red carpet in a stunning red Christian Cowan dress embellished with 10 million crystals.

Moreover, Saweetie paid homage to both her black and Filipino roots through the two trains draping behind her.

In an interview with E!, Saweetie said, “Both the flags draping are the Black American heritage flag and the Filipino flag, because I'm Black and Filipino and that's what makes me an American girl.”
She also revealed that her 2021 Met Gala look was conceptualized and brought to life only 24 hours before the red carpet event.
