David Foster was left impressed by SB19 member Stell Ajero after he showed his vocal prowess while hitting the high notes in Celine Dion's “All By Myself.”
The SB19 opened the Hitman: David Foster and Friends concert held last night, June 18, at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
In the middle of the show, the renowned composer and record producer called Stell back on stage to do a special number featuring one of his many hit songs, “All By Myself.”
“Help me out with this song,” he told the 29-year-old Filipino music artist.
Before the performance, David gave Stell a little background of the song.
“When I was making this song with Celine, she complained a lot about its really high notes in the song. It just seemed to be an impossible note to sing and she hated me that day. If you ever read the book, pages 37 and 38, she wrote two pages about that day she hated me in the studio. Well, we got the job done, she hit the high note, and it took her a few tries.”
Then, as they began, David told Stell, “Tonight, my friend Stell, you only got one try.”
Stell did not disappoint David as well as the audience. He effortlessly belted out the high notes and left an incredible performance with the hitmaker, making it one of the show's highlights.
Even David was left speechless for a while before saying, “Wow! And he's your very own.”
Meanwhile, during his front act, Stell gave fitting performances that set the show's mood. He performed Adelle's “All I Ask” and “Defying Gravity” from the musical Wicked. “Room.”
In a short break, Stell admitted to being nervous performing in Araneta without his SB19 co-members.
“Sorry kinakabahan ako,” Stell said after stuttering while introducing his next song.
“Most of you know, kaka-release ko lang po ng aking single song--debut single. Sorry kinakabahan ako. Kaka-release ko lang po ng aking debut single and ang title po noon ay 'Room.' Kaya naman po, gusto ko sanang kantahin, kung mamarapatin n'yo. Okay lang po ba? Ipaparinig ko lang po ang musika na ginawa namin ng mga kapatid ko sa SB19. First time ko lang po ito ipe-perform sa Araneta kaya sana ay magustuhan ninyo.”
Stell then gave an all-out sing-and-dance performance to the concertgoers.
After this, David appeared on stage and commented, “Stell, who sang before me, incredible and a great job.”

Aside from SB19 Stell, David also shared the stage with other Filipino music artists, JV Decena and Joaquin Garcia, who performed “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and “You Raise Me Up,” respectively.
David also had sweet moments with his wife, Katharine McPhee. On the other hand, the audience went on a trip down memory lane when Brian McKnight and All-4-One performed their hits that are very familiar to Filipino music lovers.
