Sean Lucas recounted the emotional time he discovered the reason why he was using his mother's last name.
In an episode of TRGGRD!, the podcast of ATM (Adventure. Taste. Moments), last December, the Sparkle star talked about the time that made him grow up or mature faster.
“'Yung last name ko was my mom's last name. I never thought of it, and I never thought anything of it growing up,” Sean said.
But when he and his friend were applying for a driver's license, which required a birth certificate, he noticed that his friend's document had two pages, while he only had one.
Sean said he and his friend are in the same situation where their parents are not married. So, when he asked what the second page of the document was for, it was their friend, who is a nurse, who answered.
Sean recalled, “'A, 'yung second page na 'yan, that signifies na kine-claim siya ng dad niya.' And I have one page. So, 'dun ko na-realize na that is not the case for me. Na hindi kami same. Kaya ganito 'yung pangalan ko.”
“So lumalaki ako na magkaiba apelido namin ni papa pero parang feeling ko normal lang, parang basic lang ta's eventually na-learn ko na, I don't know how to put this lightly, pero he didn't claim me, basically,” he continued.
Sean said the situation prompted him to mature faster. Despite this, Sean said he has nothing against his dad.
“Nothing against my dad. I love my dad. My dad has been there naman, but it's just the reality of the fact, the reality of the situation,” he mused.
