Selena Gomez had just dropped her new album Rare.
She announced it through an Instagram post with this caption: “HERE IT IS!!! My album is officially out in the universe.. thank you for the souls that worked on this with me. Now it's yours. Hope you like it. #Rare”.
About an hour before that, she had an iHeartRadio album release party, where she shared snippets of some songs in the album and did an exclusive Q&A with JoJo Wright and her Selenators.
JoJo Wright, an American radio personality and Internet show host, asked Selena whether her most powerful song so far is "Lose You to Love Me," and she immediately replied, “Hands down.”
Selena explained, “I felt like I had gone through so much and I had always wondered why had I put myself through that and then I thought 'this is why'.
"I finally thought that this was the broken part. It completed everything I needed. And then I got to share that message with the world.”
She also shared that she gets frustrated whenever people narrate their version of her story, and she seems to be referring to how people came up with different theories about her failed relationship with Justin Bieber.
She firmly said, “I wanted people to hear my side of it because I deserved that.”
Selena got emotional and teary-eyed when she talked about her other song in the album, "Vulnerable." She shared her thoughts about it, saying, “Vulnerability is strength. The hardest thing in the world is to forgive someone. There comes a point when forgiveness is necessary.”
Selenators who watched the album release party were treated to snippets of her songs like "Fun," "Vulnerable," "Kinda Crazy," "Cut You Off," "A Sweeter Place (ft. Kid Cudi)," and "Crowded Room (ft. 6lack)."
Selena also obliged when her fans begged to hear the full version of "Dance Again."
Some of Selena's fans seated in the audience were given a chance to ask her a question, and one of them asked what her favorite lyric from the album was, and she answered, “(From A Sweeter Place) Holding hands with the darkness, and knowing my heart is allowed.”
Rare is now available for streaming and download and her lyric videos are also now up on her YouTube channel.
