Shaira Diaz opened up about having health-related weight struggles.

Kapuso actress Shaira Diaz recently opened up about struggling with her weight.

On a post on Instagram, the actress shared her progress in losing weight with a mirror selfie showing her slimmer figure.

Shaira also said that the difficulties in managing her weight stem from polycystic ovary syndrome or PCOS.

The World Health Organization defines PCOS as a common hormonal condition that affects women of reproductive age which can hormonal imbalances, irregular periods, excess androgen levels and cysts in the ovaries.

One of its most common symptoms is weight gain, especially around the belly.

Shaira thanked her doctor for his guidance and expertise and encouraged other people who are also trying to lose weight and get healthier.

"From 141lbs to 135lbs in just a week--so happy with the progress! Big thanks to Doc @roland_angeles_md for helping me manage my PCOS-related weight struggles. With the right guidance, discipline, and a balanced diet, you'll reach your goal in no time! ," she wrote on her post.

Shaira is engaged to fellow Kapuso stars EA Guzman. They are set to get married this coming August.

Shaira is also part of the primetime action-adventure series Lolong: Bayani ng Bayan.

She reprised her role as Elsie, the childhood friend and now fiancée of the titular Lolong, played by primetime action hero Ruru Madrid.
