Miss Universe Philippines national director Shamcey Supsup-Lee is beyond overwhelmed after receiving messages praying for the safety of her family living in Cainta, Rizal.
The former Miss Universe 2011 3rd runner-up expressed her gratitude for everyone who checked up on her and her family.
She posted on Instagram, “Taking courage from this song knowing and believing that He is in control.
"The past few days we have witnessed another calamity that has claimed a lot of lives and livelihood.
"I cannot express how my heart goes out to everyone who has been affected by the recent typhoon.
“To those who have been asking and worried about my family in Cainta, thank you for all of your concerns.
“I thank the Lord that my family and our house has been spared by the flood but not everyone had the same fate as us.”
Shamcey has also decided to organize a small relief drive to help those affected by Typhoon Ulysses, including the northern provinces in Luzon like Cagayan, which also suffered from high floodwaters.
She encouraged everyone to personally contact her for any donation for our fellow kababayans.
“I am creating a small drive for those who have reached out to me personally.
"Any goods in kind will be very much appreciated (food, medicine, clothes). You may directly message me to know how you can help.
“Apart from this, the @themissuniverseph is also preparing to help out our kababayans in Cagayan.”
Before ending her post, she reminded her followers not to lose hope amid this situation.
“In times of darkness, let us be bearers of light so that others may never lose hope.”
