Rising star Shaun Salvador is tugging at heartstrings with the release of his first single "Get Through", under GMA Playlist. Known for his theater acting and undeniable charm in Mga Batang Riles, Shaun now bares a more vulnerable side through music -- portraying a man fighting to reignite the spark in a fading relationship.
During his GMA PLaylist Live performance aired on July 18, Shaun talked about his experience working on his "Get Through."
"These past few weeks, I've been working on my first single under GMA Playlist at ang masasabi ko lang ay sobrang masaya siya at nakaka-proud dahil siyempre it's my first time having a single," he shared.
"This is composed by my musical director, Tasha Correos. Pinili ko itong kantang ito dahil sabihin na lang natin na meron akong experience na meron akong sobrang special na person sa life ko at hinding hindi ko siya kayang pakawalan."
"Get Through" tells the story of a love that's grown distant. The lyrics paint a bittersweet picture of someone yearning to bridge the emotional gap between him and his partner, holding on to hope despite the coldness that's crept in. Lines like "Girl you can tell me anything that comes to mind / Oh I won't bite / We've been together for a long long time" reveal a quiet desperation wrapped in patience and deep-rooted affection.
The chorus pleads: “Please say you love me and no we're not breaking our hearts / I know we can get through” a declaration of commitment and a refusal to give up on the relationship without a fight.
Unlike the dramatic theme of heartbreak, the song's soundscape leans toward a more mellow vibe. Backed by relaxing instrumentals and soft beats, Shaun's warm vocals take center stage, creating a comforting sonic contrast to the emotional turbulence of the lyrics. It's a track meant not just to be heard, but to be felt late at night, on long drives, or during quiet moments of reflection.
Released under GMA Playlist, "Get Through" adds to the growing roster of OPM tracks that explore love in its more complex, realistic phases, not just the highs, but also the struggle to hold on when things fall apart.
