Sheena Halili and Jeron Manzanero

Sheena Halili's non-showbiz husband Jeron Manzanero explained on his Instagram why it's important for us to take care of our mental health amid this ongoing pandemic.

With the rising case of COVID-19 in the country which now stands at more than 82,000 cases as of July 27, it is imperative that we should also focus on our mental well-being.

That is why the husband of Sheena Halili, Atty. Jeron Manzanero explained on Instagram why he and his wife took a short vacation recently.

Jeron, who works as a city administrator of Pasig City, penned a message dedicated for his baby with Sheena, where he discussed the everyday struggles of every Filipino dealing with this highly-contagious disease.

“Covid sucks, kid. It really does. It sucks so bad that the entire country is under a State of Public Health Emergency for almost five months now!

“During the earlier parts of the Public Health Emergency, this disease attacked our physical well-being. It's flu-like symptoms really takes a toll on your respiratory system once it worsens. May lead to pneumonia. And sometimes death. Talagang disaster.”

He then went on to say that after several months, it is no longer just COVID-19 that's become an issue. Many are now struggling with their mental health, which could lead to serious cases of anxiety and depression.

“And then, months into this pandemic, it now attacks the people's mental health. There are now a lot of cases of depression and anxiety.

“These conditions are exactly like a flu or pneumonia. If left not acknowledged, unchecked, and untreated, it may lead to more serious cases.”

Jeron Manzanero stressed on his post that everyone should prioritize their metal health amid this pandemic.

That is why he and Sheena took time off just to relax and breathe in some fresh air.

“Remember this: Physical and mental health are equally important. Don't let any narrow minded person tell you that mental health is nothing serious or parang “baliw-baliwan” lang.

“That is why while we go to war with Covid day in day out, drown ourselves with alcohol to the point that our hands are all dry, cover our entire faces with masks and face shields--we also need to take a step back and breathe for our mental health.

“That's why your mom and I took a short trip to our family's house in the mountains. We thought you'd want to experience some fresh air din kasi! Breathe, kid. Breathe.”
