Direk Soxie Topacio was a well-loved TV, film, and theater director who succumbed to lung cancer yesterday, July 21 at the age of 65.

Several personalities in the Philippine entertainment industry have expressed their grief on social media.

This was taken after my interview with him at PETA's 50th Anniversary celebration last April. Socrates "Soxie" Topacio is one of the most respected tv, film and theater director/actor. His movie, "Ded na si Lolo" will always be one of my favorite Pinoy comedy films. R.I.P. Direk @soxietopacio ????????

Direk Soxie is a great loss to the showbiz industry. Our deepest condolences to his family.
