Singapore's Brian Ng, David Matthew Ubaña, and Raynold Tan will be co-managed by VP Global Management for their projects in the Philippines.

Singaporean actors Brian Ng, David Matthew Ubaña, and Raynold Tan hope to experience Filipino entertainment production as their talent management, TCP Artistes, collaborated with VP Global Management Philippines.

In this partnership, Singaporean and Filipino actors will be given opportunities to do inter-regional projects while being co-managed by the respective local talent management.

At the press conference on Saturday, June 8, VP Global Management CEO Charlie Dy said the partnership aimed to further elevate their talents.

“Our promise remains steadfast: to guide our talents towards the global stage and beyond. We are poised to explore new horizons, forge new partnerships, and elevate our talents to unprecedented heights globally.”

On the other hand, TCP Artistes CEO Sean Kevin said, “Together with VP Global, I am certain both the Philippines and Singapore markets can stand to enjoy the performance from 8 of our stars. I'll like to warmly welcome our 5 new stars from VP Global--Rob [Gomez], Sarah [Edwards], Mika [Reins], Dylan [Yturralde], and Christiana [Zaleta] to the TCP Family.”

In an interview with the local entertainment media, TCP's talents Brian, David and Raynold expressed their interest in doing action and horror movies in the Philippines.

Raynold said, "I know that the Philippines is known for action and horror films. I am a huge action buff… I have been an athlete since I was a kid. High-octane films would be right up my alley.”

Likewise, David said, “Growing up I always watch action movies. I know that Filipinos are very big on action and horror.”

PH entertainment production

Raynold had briefly experienced Filipino production when he starred in Regal Films' online BL (boys love) series The Day I Loved You in 2023.

During this time, he said, “Having worked in Singapore and the Philippines, the biggest difference, I feel, was in terms of culture. Not to say that one is better than the other, it's just that there are some differences that we have.

“I noticed when I flew here to the Philippines, the Filipinos really like to have fun on the set. So on the set, it's light, everyone's laughing, everyone's joking.

“In Singapore, it's slightly more systematic. It's a little bit more, okay, we have to stand by this and this and this. I think that's the subtle difference that we have.

“But in general, of course, both sets of production crew and people working are very professional.”

Meanwhile, Pinoys may be familiar with Brian and David because they were part of the Singaporean thriller-action series Third Rail, which aired on GMA recently.

While he has not done a Filipino project yet, Brian said he already has experience working with Filipinos in Singapore.

Like Raynold, he noted about Filipinos as co-workers, “My experience with the Filipino people is that they are very creative and fun. I enjoy working with them in Singapore because we had Filipino crew as well.”

He added, “It's always such a great time and such a great environment to work with them. I think I came here to learn from Filipino actors and the industry. For myself, I just love to bring a Singaporean flavor, insight, and tradition. Hopefully, the Filipino market will enjoy it. Hopefully, it's something fresh and that we can grow all together.”

Meanwhile, David talked about his experience being in a cross-cultural family--his mom is a Filipina.

“I experienced both Filipino and Singaporean families. So, I would say the main difference is the pace of time. Singapore is really fast-paced. Whenever I come to the Philippines, I think, it's pretty chill.

“I think the similarity between both is the way of the community. The Filipinos are very supportive of each other, always very welcoming, and passionate. In Singapore, it's different because we have different cultures. But in a sense, we try to work together and live from each other's differences, and appreciate each other's differences. I think that's where we're similar, we're very supportive of each other's differences.”
