Slam Dunk, one of Philippine TV’s most popular and most favourite anime series, airs once again beginning May 23 on GMA 7. Slam Dunk is a sports-themed manga series about a basketball team from Shohoku High School. It centers on Hanamichi Sakuragi, a high school student who used to waste his time courting girls and getting involved in gang fights. One time, Sakuragi gets into a dispute with Takenori Akagi, the team captain of Shohoku basketball team. The latter challenges him in a basketball match and surprisingly, Sakuragi wins with his first attempt to do a slam dunk. Sakuragi then begins to love the sport, especially when he found out that his new-found inspiration, Haruko, is a basketball enthusiast. He perseveres to learn and acquire skills amid people’s mockery and doubt of his capabilities. Will the basketball newbie Sakuragi make his mark on the hard court?
