Content creator and engineer Slater Young has launched his most recent housing project, The Rise at Monterrazas, in Cebu. What makes his newest project unique is that instead of building high-rise condo type of units, it is inspired by the Banaue Rice Terraces.
On his YouTube Channel, Slater revealed his newest project, stating that they worked with the terrain of the mountain and will build the units on the side, following its shape “to create a free-flowing design.”
“But not only that, this whole structure is now spread out across the mountain making it a whole lot safer and less 'yung environmental impact,” he said.
He added, “Not only does it look good, it has all the advantages of a home with the advantages of condominium living.”
Slater also shared how seeing the scale model of the project brought so much joy since there was a time when he and his partners thought that the project was impossible.
“There were a lot of details that we had to think through, to work on, just to make this into what it is today,” he shared.

He then detailed some of the features of the projects, such as having only 146 units available and building a mall near the entrance in the future to make the project into a township.
Slater also mentioned that since the units will be built on the side of the mountain, they added strips of greenery per unit after the railing on the balcony to not only give privacy to the unit owners below but to also give back to the mountain.
He also noted how the project will have an irrigation system to help water the strip of greenery on the balcony, as well as how each and every parking slot will have provisions for electric car charging.
However, Slater's new project did not sit well with everyone as netizens have voiced their concern with the impact it has on the environment, particularly the mountain.
Cebu was greatly devastated druing odette, so this is a big no for me. this is the upcoming project of Slater Young the “banaue inspired condo design” not gonna lie, its breathtaking but this may cause irreversible damage to our environment. pic.twitter.com/FSOZWqfZf4

I'm starting not to like Slater Young as a civil engineer bcoz of his 'Banaue' inspired project in Cebu. As engineers, we must be environmentally friendly. Wala man gane sa bukid ang mga green architecture sa SG kag MY.

in need of the confidence of slater young, the same architect who cant keep his own house dry, yet manages to come up with absurd and hazardous project/ideas AND presents it to people optimistically 🤩

Meanwhile, several netizens still voiced their support for Slater, saying that the project is beautiful.
I do not get the hatred for Slater Young's project. He's obviously knowledgeable about the field; he's an engineer. It's just funny for someone who hates something they don't understand. Go study engineering first before you make comments about something you don't know.

actually, why would u impose ur own vision and goal kay slater? dont u think it's unfair that u call him out just because ur dream does not align with his? I mean don't get me wrong, i know there are existing poor and homeless people out there. ++
