Many netizens continue to talk online about the recent performance of OPM singer Zack Tabudlo at an outdoor festival event.
After Zack was seen drenched in sweat during the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Paskuhan, some netizens made unkind remarks and claimed he “smelled.”
As the rumors circulated, however, friends and fans were quick to come to the singer-songwriter's defense.
Most recently, The Voice Kids Philippines 2025 grand winner and Zack's mentee, Sofia Mallares, took to social media to address the speculation head-on.
Sharing a photo of the two hugging during the finals, Sofia firmly shut down the negative comments.
“I can attest… Mabango po talaga si Coach Zack!!” she wrote.
Sofia also called out online bashing: “Hindi po nakakadagdag sa buhay mo ang bashing, pero nakakasira sa buhay ng iba. Is that what you want to contribute to the world?? I hope that bashers and trolls find peace of mind and heart.”
Fans quickly supported the young singer, praising her courage and kind heart for standing up for her coach. Many also continued to defend Zack amid the online criticism.
Earlier, Zack himself addressed the rumors in a lighthearted video, choosing to laugh the issue off.
“Sabi nila, 'Tindi ng amoy n'ya, beh, nu'ng andiyan kami.' Sure ba kayo ako 'yun? Baka naman… ewan ko,” he added with a laugh.
His girlfriend also chimed in, “Guys, mabango 'yan.”
Zack later suggested that his wardrobe choice might have contributed to the reactions.
“Okay, noted. Next gig, bawal mag-gray shirt tsaka fitted kasi pawisin po ako, pero promise, 'di po tayo mabaho,” he said, joking that he would even use disinfecting spray all over his body next time.
Zack first joined The Voice Kids in 2014, where he fell short of winning the title. He later returned to the competition as a coach for the 2025 season and emerged as the winning coach with Sofia's victory.
Meanwhile, Sofia—who was the season's first four-chair turner—captured viewers' hearts with her powerful rendition of “The Prayer” during the finals. As the grand winner, she took home PhP 1,000,000 in cash, along with a recording and management contract with UMG Philippines, Inc.
