Korean actresses Son Ye-jin, Jeon Mi-do, and Kim Ji-hyun have been confirmed as part of the main cast for an upcoming drama with the working title 39.

According to Soompi, 39 tells the story of three female friends who first met in their second year of high school who are now 39 years old and turning 40. The drama will show the realistic and emotional daily life and stories of the three women who encounter unpredictable challenges despite their maturity.

Son Ye-jin will take on the role of Cha Mi-jo, the head dermatologist of a Gangnam clinic. She is a wealthy woman with a warm personality and a caring family.

Jeon Mi-do will appear as Jung Chan-young, who once dreamed of becoming an actress but ends up becoming an acting teacher instead. She is known as the straightforward and direct female friend of the group who may seem harsh at times but the sincerity in her actions makes her endearing.

Kim Ji-hyun will play Jang Joo-hee, a department store cosmetics manager. She has a shy and quiet personality and this has gotten in the way of her progress in romantic relationships.

Other actors who have been reported to be in talks for the drama include Yeon Woo-jin, Lee Moo-saeng, Ahn Sohee, and Lee Tae-hwan. 39 will be directed by Kim Sang-ho, who recently worked on Run On.

The drama was written by Yoo Young-ah, who also wrote Encounter. 39 is scheduled to premiere in the first half of 2022 through JTBC.
