The 'Rise Up Stronger: The Road to NCAA Season 96' hosts marvel at the NCAA connection of many Kapuso stars.

Sophia Senoron and Martin Javier are no stranger when it comes to meeting and mingling with celebrities and star athletes.

The two, however, confessed that they still get starstruck seeing and talking to popular personalities visiting their show, Rise Up Stronger: The Road to NCAA Season 96.

Since it debuted on May 23, the program has featured a mix of sports and showbiz stars, a fact that still amazes the two hosts.

Sophia, for example, admitted feeling awestruck when she chatted with Kapuso hunk, Derek Ramsay, in one of the episodes.

“Gusto kong umiyak nung nakita ko si Derek Ramsay. Before the interview, nakita ko siya sa screen because it's a virtual interview. Sabi ko sa make-up artist ko, 'Hala, 'di ko kaya si Derek Ramsay ang i-interviewhin ko,'” Sophia told GMANetwork.com during the Kapuso Brigade Zoomustahan virtual event.

“Tapos nung natapos 'yong interview, sabi niya [Derek], 'You did great Sophia.' Wala na, parang gusto ko na lang umiyak.”

Sophia also enjoys having the chance to see and hang out a bit with her fellow Kapuso celebrities guesting on the program.

“When they come on the set they're excited for us also. Like ang dami kong friends na kasabayan ko nung when I signed with GMA a few years ago, nakakasama ko sila sa workshops, lahat sila lumalapit sa akin.

“Sabi nila 'Sophia, congratulations. Nasa-starstruck ako kasi parang, 'Awww, thank you kasi proud kayo sa akin.'”

Martin, meanwhile, couldn't help but be amazed seeing celebrities and hearing their stories previously not known to many.

“Katulad nung interview namin with Derek [Ramsay]. Knowing na naglaro pala siya way back for a PBL team and a Letran-organized team,” said Martin, who is a seasoned sports anchor and analyst.

He also mentioned the episode where they showed an old video of a young Dingdong Dantes as part of the cheering squad of San Beda University.

“In that way po nasa-starstruck ako kaso 'yon 'yong roots nila. So hindi lang 'yong magagaling na atleta ang nanggaling sa NCAA, pati po 'yong mga Kapuso celebrities natin. 'Yong mga pinagmulan nila bago umangat 'yong status nila sa showbiz.”

Viewers can expect more celebrity guests this week including Gab Yabut, Ashley Rivera, and Dingdong Dantes.

Ginebra San Miguel star, Scottie Thompson, will also drop by to say hi to the viewers.
