Several Sparkle stars volunteered in GMA Kapuso Foundation's Operation Bayanihan to help the victims of Typhoon Carina.
Tropical cyclone Carina intensified into a super typhoon on Wednesday (July 24), causing severe flooding in Metro Manila and other parts of the country. Many were affected by sudden floods and heavy rains, prompting several areas to declare a state of calamity.
In response to the emergency, GMA Kapuso Foundation initiated Operation Bayanihan, opening its doors for donations and assistance to those in need. Netizens can deposit funds through the foundation's bank accounts or send money via GCash.
To extend aid to more victims of the weather emergency, Sparkle GMA Artist Center also joined forces with the foundation's Operation Bayanihan.
Today, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., GMA Kapuso Foundation, together with Sparkle stars Rocco Nacino and Lexi Gonzales, will visit the Tandang Sora warehouse.
Operation Bayanihan will continue until 5:00 p.m., with additional support from Sparkle stars Ysabel Ortega, Shuvee Etrata, Kim Perez, Elijah Alejo, Ashley Ortega, and Mariane Osabel.
Other Kapuso stars, including Angel Leighton, AZ Martinez, Kaloy Tingcungco, and Saviour Ramos, have also volunteered for Operation Bayanihan based in the Unang Hirit studio.
Sparkle also announced that proceeds and donations from the recent GMA Gala will be directed to Typhoon Carina victims in coordination with the GMA Kapuso Foundation.
