Spider-Man Brand New Day

Marvel fans turned out in full force as 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' posted a massive opening day at the Philippine box office, earning P96 million on its first day in cinemas.

The latest installment in Sony Pictures' Spider-Man franchise grossed P95,930,965 on its opening day in the Philippines, according to Columbia Pictures.

The impressive debut marks Sony Pictures' biggest opening day in the country and the highest opening day box office since the pandemic. It also ranks as the third-biggest opening day in Philippine box office history, trailing only Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War.

Released in Philippine theaters on Wednesday, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the fourth Spider-Man film in the Marvel series led by Tom Holland.

Set four years after the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home, the film follows Peter Parker as he struggles with unexpected changes brought about by his DNA. As teased in the trailers, the young superhero begins to lose control of both himself and his powers, with Bruce Banner, played by Mark Ruffalo, describing the transformation as a mutation.

The film also brings back Zendaya as Peter Parker's love interest, MJ, and Jacob Batalon as his best friend, Ned, reprising the roles they have played throughout the franchise.
