Officials of membership shopping club in BGC on Thursday confirmed that Sen. Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III went shopping at their store on March 16, some eight days before the news that the senator was COVID-19 positive came out.

The confirmation came after a post claiming that Sen. Koko was seen roaming inside S&R BGC circulated online on Wednesday, March 25.
Through their Facebook page, store officials revealed that Sen. Koko indeed went to the store. They validated the news by checking the CCTV footage of him checking out in one of the counters.
“It was confirmed that the senator was at S&R GC on March 16, 2020. CCTV footage showed him checking out at counter 13 at exactly 1:59 PM,” the post read.
“As a result, S& employees who were in contact with the senator were already placed in quarantine. S&R BGC also took extra disinfection steps,” it added.
The membership shopping club's officials also assured their members that they are taking steps to maintain the safety of their members. They regularly disinfect shopping carts and handles, front-end belts, item shelves, and registers to keep the place safe from COVID-19.
“Our employees are constantly reminded of the safety precautions regarding the virus,” they added.
Pimentel admitted he tested positive for the virus on Wednesday. In a series of Viber messages to reporters, he said he was informed of his test results Tuesday night when he was with his wife at the Makati Medical Center.
Pimentel is the second senator to test positive for COVID-19. It was Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri who first disclosed that he contracted the disease.
Earlier today, Senator Sonny Angara revealed that he tested positive for COVID-19, too. He's the third high-profile politician to have been afflicted with the coronavirus disease.
