Stranger Things

The latest volume of the fourth season of 'Stranger Things' has helped the show achieve a milestone number.

It's been less than a week since volume two of the fourth season of Netflix's Stranger Things was released, but already the science-fiction show has achieved viewing milestones that have only been accomplished by one other Netflix show.

According to the streaming giant, the latest season of Stranger Things has helped push the series' total viewership hours to 1.15 billion. The only other Netflix show to clock in a billion viewing hours is the South Korean hit Squid Game.

Reuters reports that the Netflix app briefly crashed during the show's season premiere last Friday due to the amount of viewers tuned in. Aside from the viewership milestone, Stranger Things also topped the Netflix Top 10 lists in 91 countries, which the company says is the first time an English-language show has managed the feat.

As it is still less than a week into its release, it is still hard to say if Stranger Things season four volume two will top the numbers of Squid Game.

Back in October of last year, Squid Game managed to draw in 111 million Netflix subscribers, officially becoming Netflix's biggest show. It overtook the previous titleholder, Bridgerton, which was viewed by 82 million subscribers in the same time period

Aside from viewership, Squid Game has also been well-received by critics. During awards season, co-star O Yeong-su was awarded the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor last month. Both Jung Ho-yeon and Lee Jung-jae also won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series and Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series, respectively, at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Squid Game was also awarded Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Drama or Comedy Series by the Screen Actors Guild. The Gotham Awards also named it Breakthrough Series - Longform last year.

Ho-yeon, whose role in Squid Game was her first acting job, has also seen her Instagram following increase to 23.4 million as of this writing.

Ho-yeon also managed to nab the February cover of Vogue US. Check out the photos in the gallery below.
