Dancer and actress Sugar Mercado has achieved yet another pageant achievement as she is crowned as this year's Mrs. Universe Official.
The Facebook page Pageant Trend uploaded a Reel showing Sugar's winning moment, already amassing more than 600,000 views and has been shared more than 200 times. The post has also amassed more than 10,000 reactions.
Sugar also posted about the feat multiple times on her Facebook account, with the latest post showcasing her multiple recognitions in the pageant. In the caption to the post, she also thanked manager Wilbert Tolentino and her fans whom she fondly calls “KaMisis.”
That post has already amassed more than 29,000 reactions, more than 2,000 comments, and has been shared more than 100 times.
In a guesting alongside Patricia Javier on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda back in July, Sugar shared that she did not plan to enter the world of pageantry as it is a world she is unfamiliar with. It was only through the encouragement of her manager Wilbert Tolentino that she finally decided to join.
“Sabi niya (Wilbert), 'Kaya mo 'yan kasi magaling kang magsalita at saka marami ka nang karanasan bilang alalay' kasi itong patimpalak na 'to, Tito Boy, hindi naman siya 'yung beauty queen ka, hindi lang 'yung matalino ka, kung ano 'yung puwede mong ibahagi sa kapwa mo, magulang, o sa mga napapaligiran mo,” she said.
It was also in that Fast Talk with Boy Abunda interview that Sugar shared her willingness to compete in the Miss Universe Philippines pageant should the opportunity arise, especially since the pageant has now loosened limitations on age.
“Kahit sa panaginip, imposible siyang maganap sa buhay ko, pero nangyayari. So if ibibigay ng Panginoon 'yun sa akin, tatanggapin ko ng buong puso,” she said.
