The summer is on and floral clothes, bright colors, and showing some skin are definitely in! But are you still fretting about your personal style and worrying about your body’s problem areas? Then fret no more and read on as celebrities, and fashion consultants and designers spill the perfect formula for looking your best in the summer sun! Text by Jessa Ericka C. Bien. Interviews by Sis. Never out of style
As in every summer, floral prints and bright colors are in for this season. Aside from complementing the summer feel, these are also the most attention-grabbing designs.
“All kinds of flowers, be it dainty or 'yung mga bold prints, [are in],” says Asha Macam, the Beauty and Fashion editor of Good Housekeeping magazine. She also notes that this year’s dominant color is yellow. “All kinds of yellow; even [as bright as] saging yellow!”
“For summer, we want to show some skin 'di ba? Halter dresses and bubble skirts na maganda 'yung fabric, maganda 'yung flow [are perfect]. Mga floral and bright dresses [din],” says Freeway and Solo fashion marketing executive Ieth Ilolino.

Kapuso stars also share their personal summer styles. The lovely
Isabel Oli, for one, says sundresses and two-piece bathing suits are prefect for the beach, while sleeveless tops and shorts matched with wedges are perfect for casual affairs.
Marco Alcaraz, on the other hand, says he likes sporting men’s tank tops and board shorts in the beach and a short-sleeve polo with shorts or pants made with a light, breathable fabric for a more laid-back feel.
Polo Ravales, meanwhile, gives in to
Janice and
Gelli de Belen’s musings to go topless on national TV. And why not, when he can back it up with all that brawn?
Problem areas no more
While some people couldn’t wait for the summer to show off their fit and fabulous bodies, others have reservations with certain challenging areas. Some of these include bulging tummies, big arms, and short legs.
Ieth gives quick solutions with her fashion must-dos: “Empire-cut dresses are for the tummy-conscious. Heavy 'yung upper area and mape-play-up din with the details, [so] madi-distract ['yung view from the tummy].”

Sleeveless shirts with hoods or little flaps over the arms do the trick for those who want to conceal their arms.
Gelli, however, feels it is better to wear tube tops instead of sleeveless shirts because straps only ‘break’ the flow of the shoulders to the arms, making your biceps appear even bigger.
Petite ladies can make do with short dresses and skirts to lengthen their legs—these, together with high heels, create the perfect illusion of additional height.
“'Yung self-expression nila, ‘wag nilang aalisin sa pagbibihis,” Ieth notes. “Maging playful sila with colors, experiment with clothes.”
All about confidence

Projecting a beautiful you, however, is not just all about the clothes you wear and the body you flaunt. It’s all about confidence.
“Stay simple,”
Isabel advises. To which
Polo adds, “If you feel na you look good doon sa damit na ‘'yun, [then] isuot mo.”
“[Basta] confident ka lang sa suot mo, kaya mo nang dalhin 'yun,”
Marco says.
