“[It's] 2021 na po. Let's be better people,” Sunshine Cruz says after dealing with a netizen who bashed her relationship with Macky Mathay.
Despite ringing in the new year with good hopes, actress Sunshine Cruz can't help but respond to a basher after he criticized her boyfriend of four years, Macky Mathay.
On January 1, the mom-of-three posted a series of photos of their New Year celebration with her and Macky's family.
She wrote on Facebook, “Happy New Year from our family to yours. [The year] 2020 was such a challenge, but as long as we have our lives, a tomorrow to wake up to, we are still blessed!
“A prosperous 2021 to all of you!”
The post has received more than 5,000 likes on the social media platform, with fans wishing for a healthy and happy new year to the couple.
However, one netizen was irked by the sight of the couple as he wrote in the comments section, “Kaya pala nag-hiwalay kayo ni Cesar Montano dahil pala n'yan ni kalbo dako man gud guro na bunal.”
Sunshine firmly replied, “I share my photos hindi para bastusin mo lang. Tatlong taon na kaming hiwalay ni Cesar ng makilala ko si Macky.
“Opo, kalbo siya pero palagay ko ay mas edukado at gwapo siya sa'yo. Happy New Year! [It's] 2021 na. Magbago ka na.”

It can be recalled that Sunshine and Cesar Montano legally separated on August 26, 2013, less than 13 years since their wedding on September 14, 2000.
In a follow-up comment on Instagram, Sunshine reminded her followers and bashers alike to be kinder this new year.
“Happy New Year, guys! I share my photos pampa-good vibes. If you find my posts offensive, you can unfollow or ignore it,” she said.
“[It's] 2021 na po. Let's try to be better people.”
She added, “Artista po ako pero hindi po ibig sabihin ay may karapatan na ang iba na bastusin ako o kami dahil wala naman po akong ginagawang masama sa kapwa ko.”

Sunshine Cruz and Ismael “Macky” Mathay celebrated their fourth anniversary as a couple last September 2020.
Macky is an executive assistant to San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora.
The two went on record about their relationship in 2016, and they have been inseparable since.
Sunshine has three daughters with ex-husband Cesar Montano, namely Angelina Isabelle, Samantha Angeline, and Angel Franchesca. Meanwhile, Macky has two sons, Roan and Cole, and a daughter named Charlize with his former wife, Camille Fariñas.
