Your trip to the world is a ticket away! A movie ticket, that is! Don't be left behind on 'I.T.A.L.Y.'s visual treat for every Pinoy who dreams of a destination where life, love and happiness awaits. Text by Jillian Q. Gatcheco, with parts taken from the GMA Films Press Release. Photos courtesy of GMA Films. Pre-premiere The premiere night was swamped, to say the least. Various fan groups of the cast members converged at SM Megamall Cinema 9 last September 14, 2008, holding up placards and tarpaulins with their idols' names and pictures. Prior to the actual showing, an informal press conference was held over dinner at—you guessed it, Italianni’s, where the stars of the film mingled with the members of the press. starsThe cast came color-coordinated in sunny shades of yellow, and some Kapuso celebs also dropped by to show their support for the film. Among them were Dingdong Dantes, Yasmien Kurdi, Bubbles Paraiso and Raymond Gutierrez. And guess who had a date that night? Jolina Magdangal! Her beau Bebong Muñoz showed up to be with her for the premiere! The storyline The movie, shot in three continents, showcases the lives of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) who have found jobs in cruise ships sailing all over the world. I.T.A.L.Y. is the first ever film to tackle not just the hardships of our fellow Filipinos working in these cruise ships, but the lighter, funny and even amusing situations they experience. starsTop-billed by some of the country's most popular stars, Rufa Mae Quinto, Dennis Trillo, Eugene Domingo, Mark Herras, Rhian Ramos and Jolina Magdangal, the film promises to make the audience laugh and cry as they sail through the beautiful sceneries of Europe and Africa. On board Costa Magica, six individuals will cruise across Europe while simultaneously embarking on their respective life-changing journeys. I.T.A.L.Y. provides its audience with an honest and open testimony on the lives of Filipino overseas workers and their beautiful expedition of life, love and destiny. Don't miss these scenes! Here are the top four must-sees that will leave your sea legs wobbling with laughter! Why Jolina drinks milk. Pen Medina's short but memorable portrayal of Jolina's father in the film is priceless, especially with his constant reminders for Destiny (Jolina's character) to drink milk before sleeping. The scene to watch out for is the father and daughter's phone conversation while Jolina is at sea. You'll find yourself at a loss on whether to laugh or cry! starsRufa Mae's "Ocean Deep" performance. Rufa Mae is crazy for doing this scene, and we love her all the more for it! The "Titanic" homage. Eugene Domingo is as crazy as Rufa Mae! You'll be covering your eyes with embarrassment and laughter once you see this scene! Marvin and Bebong's cameo roles! Yes, Jolina's reel and real honeys graced the film! Here’s iGMA's advice: Don't leave even after the credits start to roll—you'll be in for a treat! Of course, these four scenes are only a few of what made I.T.A.L.Y. top-notch. Don't forget to watch out for Dennis' flashbacks with Sophia, played by Italian actress Andrea Delogu, and Rhian and Mark's kilig moments onboard Costa Magica. The people behind the film GMA Films President Annette Gozon-Abrogar describes I.T.A.L.Y. as not just a movie, but a wonderful experience. "It will transport the viewers to the various beautiful locations where the movie was shot. It will also give the viewers an experience of being in one of the most beautiful cruise ships in the world. Everyone will be able to enjoy and relate to I.T.A.L.Y. because like the characters in the movie, everyone has a life journey; everyone has a love journey. It is our goal that I.T.A.L.Y. not only tremendously entertains, but also leaves its audience with life lessons that will make everyone feel good about life, friendship and love." starsJoey R. Abacan, I.T.A.L.Y. producer, adds: "I was quite surprised with the harmony in the casting, especially with the combination of the three comediennes, Jolina, Rufa Mae and Eugene. The chemistry of all the actors made this trip and movie more fun. [This] movie proves that an OFW [film] does not have to be a tearjerker all the time." Although I.T.A.L.Y. had its dramatic moments, the bulk of the viewing experience was filled with fits of laughter, and realizations of our nuances as Pinoys. Director Mark A. Reyes imparts, "I.T.A.L.Y. is a most enjoyable journey full of drama, laughter and romance. Set in the stunning Northern European region, it is the story about family, lovers and a tribute to the unsung heroism of the Filipino overseas workers." Here's iGMA's verdict: One journey is not enough. I.T.A.L.Y. is an adventure you'd want to take—and watch over and over again. GMA Films' I.T.A.L.Y.
