American pop singer Taylor Swift dropped a bomb Thursday evening (Philippine Time) after announcing that she'll be releasing her eighth studio album in 24 hours.
And get this, she made the whole album entirely during isolation.
“Most of the things I had planned this summer didn't end up happening, but there is something I hadn't planned on that did happen.
“And that thing is my 8th studio album, 'Folklore,'” Taylor said.
She added that she poured all of her “whims, dreams, fears, and musings” into finishing the entire album and has even collaborated with several of her “musical heroes” like Aaron Dessner, Bon Iver, William Bowery, and Jack Antonoff.
Unlike her previous albums, Taylor didn't release any easter eggs before the release of her album that has fans scrolling and connecting the pieces in their respective accounts.
However, as Taylor said, “the times we're living in keep reminding me that nothing is guaranteed.
“My gut is telling me that if you make something you love, you should just put it out into the world. That's the side of uncertainty I can get on board with.
“Love you guys so much.”
Following her announcement, Taylor shared that the upcoming album will have 16 songs in total namely, “The 1,” “Cardigan,” “The Last Great American Dynasty,” “Exile (ft. Bon Iver),” “My Tears Ricochet,” “Mirrorball,” “Seven,” “August,” “This Is Me Trying,” “Illicit Affairs,” “Invisible String,” “Mad Woman,” “Epiphany,” “Betty,” “Peace,” and “Hoax.”
The deluxe version of “Folklore” will include a bonus track titled, “The Lakes.”
She mentioned that since this is her eighth album, she made eight versions of the deluxe CD and the deluxe vinyl that will have “unique covers, photos, and artworks.”
And you know what else is in store for Swifties? A full music video for “Cardigan,” the second track of the album.
In the photo-sharing platform, Taylor shared a preview of the upcoming music video which she wrote and directed.
If you're worried that they breached safety protocols, the 30-year-old singer assured, “The entire shoot was overseen by a medical inspect, everyone wore masks, stayed away from each other, and I even did my hair, makeup, and styling.”
“Cardigan” and “Folklore” will be out at noon, Philippine Standard Time.
