A new trend has recently emerged on social media that's perfect for family bonding. This quick and fun activity highlights the differences in slang across generations millennials, Gen Z, and Gen Alpha; bringing them together through a playful exchange of terms.
The trend gained traction in these parts thanks to famous parent and child celebrities, like the duo Dr. Vicki Belo and Scarlet Snow. Now, popular family content creator Team Kramer has joined in on the fun with Doug, Chesca, and their eldest daughter Kendra battling it out in a hilarious video that was posted on Doug's Instagram account.
In the video, Doug and Chesca took on the challenge of using various Gen Z and Gen Alpha slang terms, while Kendra had to decipher their meanings. The couple clearly enjoyed the game, often tossing around slang terms and incorporating them into sentences. Meanwhile, Kendra seemed both amused and surprised, caught off guard by some of the terms.
For instance, when Doug used the term “gyat,” Kendra shyly responded with “butt.” Chesca's question about “fanum tax” led Kendra to say, “I feel so harassed,” which had the parents laughing heartily. Kendra then explained that “fanum tax” refers to stealing, as in snatching food from friends.
When asked about “Ohio,” Kendra answered she didn't know, so Doug turned to their son Gavin for help. As the camera panned to the youngest, Gavin explained while laughing that it meant “crazy.”
The video ended on a high note with Doug and Chesca enthusiastically using slang terms and Doug even dancing while chanting “bro” repeatedly. While watching the chaotic energy of her parents, Kendra reacted, “Guys, this isn't demure!” (meaning it isn't modest or serious) causing everyone to laugh once again.
In the captions, Doug humorously encouraged viewers to brush up on their Gen Z slang, "Get ready to *slay* your vocabulary! Learn the *rizz* of Gen Z with our latest reel--*no cap*!"
The family's followers and friends had a blast in the comments section, with some finding the video a helpful insight into their kids' dictionary. While others joked about their brains aching from the new generation's slang words.
