When Kris Bernal was hailed part of Ultimate Love Team back in 2007, everyone assumed that her partner would be Aljur Abrenica. That may not have happened in the competition, but it's always the aftermath that's more important. "Nakatrabaho ko na [si Aljur] sa Zaido, StarStruck, Boys Nxt Door [and] Dyesebel," Kris lists down, noting how they've been partnered with each other since they won their respective titles in the reality-based artista search, StarStruck. But unlike in television, Kris says the two of them had to make certain adjustments for the silver screen. "Like Don Cuaresma [the director] said, dapat mas natural." Lucky for her, Kris continues, she gets along well with Aljur, and they "always talk about how we will deal with the scene." For those who haven't seen the movie yet, Aljur plays the son of a gay couple and Kris is the daughter of two lesbians. And while Kris' character Tonee adopts the tough-chick attitude of her parents, Aljur's Ryan is very manly¯and very interested in Tonee. This alone sets their movie roles apart from the usual characters they portray. There are no two different worlds meeting here, no rich girl meets poor guy¯Ryan and Tonee come from the same background, and they prove that opposites are not the only ones that attract. Aljur says their characters' predicament is interesting. "Compatible [talaga] kami," he notes with a laugh. And while Aljur is not a stranger to the silent rocker-type, this is Kris's first foray into being a voluntary tomboy. In fact, Kris reveals, Aljur has to remind her that she's "tibo" whenever they rehearse their lines! Of course, no love team-up is complete without the kiss. "Makikita nila dito kung papaano yung atake namin sa kissing scenes namin," Kris adds, confessing that they rehearsed even their few-seconds kiss. "Para mas natural." To those who have already seen the film, Kris says thank you for the support: "Maraming salamat, at patuloy pa sana nila kami suportahan. 'Wag sila sanang mag-sawa, dahil hinding-hindi kami magsasawa na pasayahin sila." And for the ones who has yet to watch Loving You, Aljur leaves an invite: "Abangan [niyo po ang] iba't-ibang klaseng kwento ng love. Lahat sila makaka-relate, kasi merong age ko, may age na pang matanda na¯basta iba't ibang age of love. Makakarelate sila, maalala talaga nila." The love team doesn't stop at Loving You!
