The cast of Maging Akin Ka Lamang gushes about the fact that they have been playing the roles of a lifetime. There were challenges along the way, but the show was more than worth it. Text by KC M. Abalos. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio. As we breathlessly follow the final week of Maging Akin Ka Lamang, we took note of what the lead characters have been going through. They talk about what they will miss, what they have learned, and the people who have become their family in the past few months. Lessons Learned “Pag-dating sa Dramarama, talagang tinuturuan para mahasa kami. Kasi nga, at afternoon yung, yung ginagamit mo dun like kunyari isasabak ka sa primetime, at least meron ka ng idea.” This is according to Nadine>Nadine Samonte who, in her young age, is already a veteran when it comes to soaps, having starred in several afternoon and primetime dramas. In Maging Akin Ka Lamang, her fifth soap to date, she is able to extend her acting range to a whole new level as the oftentimes, victimized Elsa. Another lesson Nadine learned is that no matter who she is paired with, trust is essential. This is especially relevant in Maging Akin Ka Lamang where she and Polo Ravales have had many intimate scenes where they are forced to get close. “Okay siyang ka-trabaho. Focused siya.” She said about her co-star and adds, “sobrang gentleman niya ‘pag dating sa akin.” Sweet Memories When iGMA asked Polo Ravales what he will miss most in Maging Akin Ka Lamang, he promptly answered that he will miss the people he worked with, especially his reel sweetheart, Nadine. He comments on how happy he is that people accepted their new team up. “First time lang kasi namin magwork ni Nadine ang tingin ko, 'yung chemistry nagmamatch, nagbeblend maybe. That’s why nagugustuhan nila 'yung team up namin. Siguro kahit papano, nagagampanan naman namin 'yung roles namin ng maayos.” What is the best memory of Nadine that Polo will always hold dear? “She’s a professional. Supportive siya pag may mga eksena na kailangan ko ng tulong niya, nandoon siya” he answers with a fond smile. Looking Forward After all the struggles they have been through in their characters, it is obvious that it must have been doubly difficult for the actors to project these emotions every day fro the past few months. What will be Rosita’s next plan of action? “Well, na-try ko na ‘yung inaapi ako. Eh baliw ako dito, halos mabaliw-baliw ako dito so siguro balik tayo sa api.” Isabel Oli replies with a chuckle. As the obsessed Rosita, Isabel has had her fill of playing the she-devil, for now at least. Of course one never knows where the wind will take her but she is more than ready to tackle any role, whether bida or kontrabida. She continues, “[Para] ma-balance naman tapos balik din. Ayoko din kasi nag-sistick ako sa pang-aapi or ‘yung inaapi lang ako.” Regardless of where their team goes, it is apparent that the cast and crew of Maging Akin Ka Lamang have become a family, contrary to the tension one sees on-screen.
