a bra and a woman

Before you ditch that piece of inner clothing called a bra, here are the pros and cons you need to consider before making a choice.

Whether it's running around the kitchen or coping with the new work-from-home setup, you can't deny the comfy feeling brought about by the non-requirement to wear bras.

But, is it really okay? We compiled the pros and cons of going braless and will leave it here for you to decide whether to adapt to the new bra-cation habit into the new norm or get back to that tight-fitting underwear.

The Pros

Contrary to the myth, that says not wearing bras will make your boobs sag, a study conducted by Jean-Denis Rouillon of France suggests that women are even better off without bras.

The pronouncement of sagging breasts depends on many factors such as breastfeeding, pregnancy and aging, and is not based on whether you wear a bra or not.

Meanwhile, nipples are said to lift an average of 7millimeters, in a year as observed from the women who participated in the 15-years breast research. Imagine getting a lift of seven millimeters if you decide to ditch that strap for a year.

Rouillon also stressed that breasts even get saggier with a bra, as it weakens the muscles that hold up the breast.

While women are taught to see bra as a necessity to support their breast and the back muscles, the more-than-a-decade Rouillion study proved that allowing gravity to hold that lump of yours will give it a more natural shape, and keep the breast tissues tighter and more elastic.

We all get troubles sleeping especially amid this difficult situation, but do you know that not wearing bras are also said to improve sleep cycles. Tight-fitting garments trigger a decrease in Melatonin - a hormone that helps regulate a sleep cycle.

Since looser clothing allows for better body circulation, going bra-less also makes the breast tissues healthier. Not wearing bras can also prevent dirt and sweat from sticking onto your skin, as it provides more ventilation, lessening the probability of infections and acne that appears due to extreme sweating and dirt.

Going on a bra-cation also reduces the discomfort of other health problems, such as shortness of breath and chest pains, especially when you wear the wrong size. Comfy and healthy right?

Well, obviously opting for the bra-less lifestyle will also save you a handful of money especially that, admit it or not, bras are expensive.

The Cons

Now, should you ditch your bra forever?

Ditching bra is encouraged to give that girl a leap of air, but definitely not during workout sessions. Since there will be extensive movements, it may feel uncomfortable letting it bounce around and may also hurt if no proper support is present.

Meanwhile to women who are gifted with much fuller breast sizes, it is also difficult to just adapt to the braless movement.

Most large-breasted women (and I mean those who have bigger than C-cup) often complain of pain in the back, shoulders, and chest every time they refuse to wear bras, which is brought about by the excessive strain in the muscles supporting the breast.

Given that there is only a single area of attachment from the breast tissues to the muscular wall, bra support and alleviates that pain, and helps keep maintaining a good posture.

Meanwhile. It is also important to identify factors such as weight, genetics, and age in adapting to this comfy niche, as effects may vary depending on your background or lifestyle.

Bottom line, whether you're planning to extend that bra-cation booking or not, always keep in mind that bodies and breast types are unique and will react differently to whatever change you adapt to.

There are different perspectives people have, especially in considering this, but what's constant, is that it is and will always be a personal choice.
