Get inside the head of the man who gave life to one of the most hateful characters in the history of Philippine Television: Tirso Cruz III.
From the beginning of Zaido, Ramiro has been bad. But who knew he could be this evil? Get inside the head of the man who gave life to one of the most hateful characters in the history of Philippine Television: Tirso Cruz III. Text by Jason John S. Lim. Photos by Mitch S. Maurico. “Ako ‘yung boses ni Le-Ar,” Tirso Cruz III revealed to iGMA prior to the actual reveal in the series. It was a little known fact that was never kept secret -- which resulted to it becoming the best kept secret of the show. So good that even his Zaido co-stars didn’t know it was Tirso’s voice being used for Le-Ar! stars So when Ramiro was merged with the body of the evil leader of the Kuuma, Tirso was just claiming the character that was already his from the beginning. “Lalabas talaga ‘yung kasagaran ng kawalang-hiyaan ni Ramiro through Le-Ar.” Tirso told iGMA that having to voice two characters was hard. Especially since the two characters, while both evil, are very different in how they spread their malice. "Pinag-aralan at pinili naman ‘yan (ng mabuti),” the veteran actor explained. He added that there’s already some technological tweaking done to make Le-Ar’s voice as different as possible to Ramiro’s, but it didn’t mean he could cheat and just use the voice he used for Ramiro. “Mahirap, masakit sa lalamunan tsaka mababa siya.” stars He continued to say that the main challenge was that he had to control Ramiro’s character from going over-the-top. “Dahil, siyempre sa finale, kailangan i-merge ko ‘yung dalawang characters.” And it seemed Tirso had a precognition of what was in store for him, when he wished that the possessed Ramiro would remain looking normal. “Baka gawin akong pangkalawakan!” “Paparusahan ako! Patapos na (ang show), gugulpihin pa ako?” After Zaido, Tirso said he didn’t know what’s in store for him next. But he divulged that he still wants more characters to play with. “And the challenge if ever, if God-willing; at least may bagong character na naman, may bago na naman akong bagong pag-aaralan. And then, I guess the challenge is trying to differentiate from one character to the other. ‘Yung transition! ‘Yun ‘yung mahirap, ‘di ba? Paano ka magke-create ng tao na siya ‘yung makikita? “Minsan may tendency kasi na, it’s either you play it low key too much or mago-over ka. Which is hard.” stars Tirso is one of the most notable actors who have shown time and time again that there are no small roles in the industry. With his scene-stealing nuances in his acting, Tirso will definitely continue on making heroes everywhere more miserable in life. Don’t fail to catch him every weeknight in the last weeks of Zaido, Pulis Pangkalawakan, after 24 Oras. And talk about him and the show with your fellow Zaido fans at the iGMA forums!
