Hazel Ann Mendoza and Tyron Perez become the most hated couple on afternoon television!
Hazel Ann Mendoza is moving to GMA and Tyron Perez is venturing into afternoon drama. Will these two young stars be able to concoct the perfect recipe for a kontrabida as they become the most hated couple on GMA’s dramarama slot? Text by Alula Love M. Dela Cruz. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio. The New Hazel Hazel Ann Mendoza isn’t a fresh face on TV. Her versatility made her one of the most admired child stars of her time. Now that she’s all grown up, she’s now taking another leap in her already colorful career. She joins the ranks of the most promising Kapuso stars as she becomes Chona Acuesta on GMA’s remake of the crtically acclaimed movie Kung Mahawi Man Ang Ulap. “Ako si Chona, heto jologs, maarte, gold digger ayun lahat na lang ng negative nasa (pamilya niya).” Along with her move to GMA is her change of image as she ventures out into mature roles, “Lagi kasi akong kakawawa doon, ngayon naman maingay, malandi tapos mataray pag ka kay Catherine (Nadine Samonte). Ibang-iba talaga ako (dito). Hazel might have come from the rival network, but she already feels right at home as a Kapuso star, “Syempre nung una may kaba factor kasi it’s a new world for me. Bago yung mga kasama ko, (from) sa actor, sa staff (at) sa lahat. Pero ngayon I feel comfortable.” Another factor that made Hazel adjust quickly to her new home is co-star Iwa Moto, “Nag uusap kami, sabi niya happy ako na ikaw kapatid ko sabi ko ako rin, tapos ayun sabi namin nag memeet kami, kasi pag nasa screen parang mag kasing laki lang kami” laughs Hazel. Being Bad Hazel is not alone in the kontrabida department. In this drama, it takes two to be bad. Meet het on-screen love interest Tyron Perez who will be playing Anastacio. “Yung character, mag kaibigan kami ni interest Jeremy Marquez, medyo bad boy kami. Si Chona parang siya yun love interst (ko), parang ganun parang mag MU sila.” Unlike Hazel, Tyron is already a veteran in terms of being the antagonist of a soap, “As of now nag eenjoy ako, dati pa sweet sweet lang yung ginagawa ko pero ngayon medjo mature role na.” Though we’ve seen Tyron play numerous bad guys role already, he admits that he still feels a little nervous working with A-list stars, “Minsan sanay na pero syempre meron din kaba. Kasi dpat (kung) yung mga kasama mo big star mahirap ng mag kamali, parang ganoon.” But he also shares that he feels excited to work with Hazel Ann, who by her own right is a big star herself, “Dati napapanood ko (lang) siya tapos parang (ngayon) mag ka love kami.
