Halatang pinaghandaan nang todo at pinaganda ang makabagong version ng 'Totoy Bato.' Read what went on sa bonggang press conference last Sunday, Feb. 15.
Another Carlo J. Caparas’s story that will mark the rebirth of a well-loved Pinoy character is about to unfold. At the press conference of GMA’s upcoming prime time offering, lahat ay excited na i-welcome ang pagbabalik ng bagong Totoy Bato. Text by Loretta G. Ramirez. Photos courtesy of GMA Network and Mitch S. Mauricio. Last Sunday, February 15, 2009, ginanap ang press launch ng Carlo J. Caparas’s Totoy Bato. Sinimulan ang event sa isang photo exhibit ni Jun De Leon where various scenes ng preparation ni Robin Padilla para sa kanyang pinakabagong show sa GMA were presented.
Pagkatapos ng unveiling ng billboard ng nasabing show, which was featured live sa Showbiz Central, dumiretso na ang cast and media guests sa press conference ng Totoy Bato sa Studio 5 ng GMA Network. Sinimulan ang launch with an interpretative dance number from the group called Igorota. Pagkatapos, isa-isang ipinakilala ang powerhouse cast members ng story ni Totoy Bato na pinangungunahan ni Robin Padilla, whose family was in full attendance to support this momentous occasion. Nagpunta din si Regine Velasquez, ang leading lady ni Robin, who also sang Ako’y Sa ‘Yo, ang theme song ng Totoy Bato. Playing a big part in the story, Eddie Garcia was also present and was even dubbed by Carlo J. Caparas as “Ang Alamat.” Dumalo din sina Caridad Sanchez, Joonee Gamboa, Ronnie Lazaro, Rommel Padilla, Deborah Sun, Ehra Madrigal, Jolo Revilla, LJ Reyes, Tuesday Vargas, Mon Confiado, Sweet Ramos, Ralph Padilla, Joko Diaz, Daniel Fernando, at si Queenie Padilla, who performed a song and dance number that night. Directors Mac Alejandre, Don Michael Perez, and of course, Carlo J. Caparas were also present para magbigay ng kani-kanilang pahayag about GMA’s newest television series. A star-studded cast and a well-loved classic, Totoy Bato will surely dominate the prime time Telebabad block. According to Ms. Wilma V. Galvante, GMA’s Senior Vice President for Entertainment TV, talaga namang todo ang suporta na ginawa ng network para sa unforgettable Pinoy classic na ito. “Pagka ganito kalalaki ang artista, ang casting, at makikita mo ganito ang kanilang dedication—si Robin, isang soap lang ang puwede niyang magawa sa isang taon dahil, 'pag sinabi mo sa kanya na ito ang susunod mong project, dun na 'yung isip niya, 'yung focus nya. Ginagawa na nya, inaaral na niya. Siya ang nagsasabi kung papaano maiiba doon sa katatapos [lang] niyang proyekto. Kapag ganun at napaganda ng istorya, hindi naman puwedeng hindi mo ibigay lahat ng kailangan,” ang buong pagmamalaking pahayag ni Ms. Wilma Galvante noong Linggo.
Idinagdag pa ni Ms. Wilma na excited din siya sa balik-tambalan ni Robin at Regine na talaga namang maraming pinakilig na manonood sa kanilang movie na Till I Met You. “Si Regine and Robin, kahit for me, dream 'yun na magawa sa TV,” ang natutuwang sabi ng GMA executive. “Pagkatapos nandiyan pa si Pacquiao. Everything is falling into its proper place, dahil sa maganda 'yung mission, maganda 'yung intention. Above everything, that is what is important, the intention to come up with a good show, to delight our viewers, to give them high-quality entertainment programming. So to everybody, to Direk Carlo J. Caparas, sa lahat po ng cast, sa creative team din, maraming salamat.
