Produced by GMA Films, the movie directed by Yam Laranas received positive response in the Philippines and overseas, with film critics and movie bloggers talking about it in various US-based movie websites.
 
On May 11, it was released in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Honolulu, Jacksonville, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington D.C., as well as video-on-demand (VOD) and Netflix. Its red band trailer also had its broadcast premiere in Reelz Channel, and was also shown in AOL Moviefone, Fandango, Vimeo, and Yahoo Movies.
 
A New York Times’ Critic’s Pick, The Road tells the story of a 12-year-old cold case that is reopened when three teenagers vanish while traversing an infamous and abandoned road. As investigators try to find leads to the whereabouts of the missing teens, they also unearth the road's gruesome past that spans two decades - a history of abduction, crimes and murders.
 
The Road stars Carmina Villaroel, Marvin Agustin, Rhian Ramos, TJ Trinidad, Barbie Forteza, Derrick Monasterio, Lexi Fernandez, Alden Richards, Louise delos Reyes, Ynna Asistio, and Renz Valerio, with the special participation of Ms. Jacklyn Jose, John Regala, Lloyd Samartino, Gerald Madrid, Allan Paule, Dex Quindoza and Ana Abad Santos.
