
Through its official Facebook page, the Department of Health explained the role of the Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) in this time of emergency health crisis caused by COVID-19.
According to DOH, the BHWs are community volunteers who underwent formal training to provide healthcare for all the families who resides in their assigned area or catchment area. They are the frontliners in your barangay.
BHWs also work hand in hand with other members of the health team (doctors, nurses, and midwives) in promoting the health programs and services in the community. They also serve as community organizers who provide instruction and information about health.

As the COVID-19 cases continue to rise in the country, the DOH reminds everyone to stay at home in order to contain and prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease.
